The medical school’s Human Research Protection Program has full accreditation from the , a recognition that the medical school has demonstrated a commitment to building extensive safeguards into every level of its research operation and adheres to the highest standards for research with human participants.
The medical school is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in the category of Research Colleges and Universities. This designation includes institutions that spend more than $2.5 million annually on research and are not designated as Research 1: Very High Spending and Doctoral Production or Research 2: High Spending and Doctoral Production. The Carnegie Foundation published the 2025 Research Activity Designations with an intended to better reflect the multifaceted, wide-ranging research landscape of higher education institutions.
Medical Examiner
The Office of the Medical Examiner has full accreditation from the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). NAME is the professional organization of physician medical examiners, medicolegal death investigators, and death investigation system administrators who perform the official duties of the medicolegal investigations of deaths of public interest in the US. NAME accreditation program is a peer review system and has a goal to improve performance through objective evaluation and constructive criticism.
