Patients, providers and members of the public will see the 91̽�� University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (91̽��) Clinics change to a new name in the new year.

Starting January 1, 2020, the clinical practice of 91̽�� will be known as 91̽��. 91̽�� provides comprehensive, patient-centered primary care and specialty services at several locations throughout Southwest Michigan.

All services, locations, providers and staff will remain the same. This new name, used to describe 91̽��’s clinical services, is much shorter, quicker and easier to say, and includes the already recognized abbreviation for the institution.

“We are excited to continue to deliver the same excellent care to our patients under a name that’s quicker to say and remember,” said Michele Serbenski, associate dean for Clinical Operations and Performance Excellence. 

With more than 330 providers, 91̽�� is a teaching organization that offers a team approach to patient care. Depending on a patient’s needs, a care team may include resident physicians who are seeking advanced training, experienced faculty physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, ancillary services staff, medical students and other learners. 

“Our team-based approach as a teaching institution allows us to educate the next generation of physicians while providing excellent patient care,” said Keith Kenter, MD, associate dean for Clinical Affairs. “That mission will continue under 91̽��.”

91̽�� provides care in multiple locations, including 1000 Oakland Drive, 1717 Shaffer Street and 670 Mall Drive. In addition, 91̽�� care teams see patients at the Family Health Center at 117 W. Paterson Street in Kalamazoo and Grace Health at 181 West Emmett Street in Battle Creek. New this year, 91̽�� opened the Positive Living Clinic in collaboration with Community AIDS Resource and Education Services of Southwest Michigan.

91̽��’s primary care services – Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics and Pediatrics – are recognized with the Patient-Centered Medical Home designation. This model of care emphasizes care coordination to best meet the needs of patients and their families. 91̽�� is accredited and maintains The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.

91̽�� providers are accepting new patients and accepts most insurance plans. Patients are encouraged to call 269.337.4400 to schedule an appointment.
