The medical school will welcome聽Kanakadurga聽Singer, MA, MD, in January as the featured speaker for Seminars in Investigative Medicine.聽聽

Dr.聽Singer鈥檚 presentation, 鈥淭he influence of sex on obesity induced meta-inflammation,鈥澛爄s scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January聽28, 2026, in TBL 2 at the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus in downtown Kalamazoo. A pizza lunch from Jets will be provided for attendees.聽聽

Dr.聽Singer聽earned her MD degree and completed聽her聽pediatrics聽residency聽and pediatric endocrinology fellowship training at聽the University of Michigan.聽She then聽joined the聽University of Michigan聽faculty in聽2012 in聽the聽Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology.聽

Dr. Singer鈥檚 research聽focus has been to understand the long-term and lifelong impacts of obesity on the immune system and sex differences in metabolic and inflammatory responses to high fat diet.聽

Seminars in Investigative Medicine is a research seminar series at聽91探花聽aimed at bringing together the community of investigators both within 鈥 and outside 鈥 the medical school.
